LIZARDMEN AND LUSTRIA

By Vincent Coffey

Need something to tie together all them dungeon hacking, tresure stealing games of Warhammer Quest? Then how about some of the following ideas to really spice up them Quest adventures! These adventure ideas were written by Vincent Coffey for the Warhammer Quest Digest, reprinted here in all their glory!

Lizardmen and Lustria

1) The party is transported by some wizard to Lustria to recover a rare subterrainian lichen (or some other item of value to mages) that is deep in the chasm of the condor (see lizzie codex map).

2) The party goes on an ocean voyage to lustria to pillage lizardman ruins, hearing tales of fantastic amounts of treasure to be gained.

3) The Lustrian Norse colony of Skeggi has been retaliated against viciously by the lizardman natives, and the cheifs wife and firstborn son are taken as prizes to be rendered unto their god, sotek. The party much cleave their way to their Idol chamber and rescue them before the sacrafice.

4) A seer informs the party (or through some other story vehicle) that a faction of the powerful slaan mage priests intends to, using their arcane geomancy, do nothing less than collapse the World Edge mountains. Their motivation (you could tell this right away or make this a big campaign as they learn the motive behind it) rid the world of many of the Orcs who make thier homes in the fallen dwarf halls, as well as destroy more than half of the skaven under-empire in the tectonic upheavals. Although this will effectively end dwarven civilization, and will cause catastrophic damage in the old world, this extremist slaan faction believes the damage to thier arch enemies, and the unintended spawn-race of orcs to be justifiable, as most of the elves and humans will survive. Of course, the ritual must be stopped. This could be done as simply as fighting to the ritual chamber and mucking things up, or assassinating a prominant mage-priest, or even through some other story vehicle, convincing the slaan (through proof by recovering lost prophesy tablets) that the ritual is a bad idea. This was a campaign Idea of mine which would probably expand several quests, but could be toned down into a wham-bam-treasure-scram, if you'd like.

5) Months ago, a raiding party sent to lustria from Tilea came back laden with gems, gold and relics from the New World... the privateers divided up the plunder and quickly spent much of their ill gotten gains, and the treasure disseminated itself thoughout the populace. A prominant Tilean government figure purchased one of these Lustrian relics, (a Jade blossom the size of a human head) and swore it as dowery to a powerful Lord in Estalia.. to cement a treaty to a bloody dispute, as well as secure the hand of the Estalian lord's daughter, a woman of inestimable beauty. This relic, and many others stolen my the tilean raiders, were of great importance to the lizardmen and thier slaan masters. The lizardmen, using thier arcane portals, have sent thier agents to steal back thier relics... The jade blossom is taken from the Tilean noble... forcing him to face utter embarrassment, further war, and the loss of his coveted fieance'. Naturally, he is willing to pay a fantastic amount to a party of adventurers who are willing to find the lizardmen (who are holed up in a cavern waiting for the right stellar alignment for the portal to take them home) kill them, and recover the jade blossom. Naturally, the lizzies will also have at least a handful of other treasures they have recovered from other unfortunates.
